In the latest issue of the Accounts of Chemical Research, Dr. Senanayake explores the state-of-the-art catalytic conversion of methane to value-added products, such as alcohols. Utilizing insights into C−H bond scission obtained from surface science, the rate-limiting step of methane activation can be tackled via engineering of catalysts, opening pathways towards the production of synthetic fuels.
